We’re BACK! And the Spikes are too!

It’s been a bit since our last article. I went off grid for a bit due to some personal things going on (I bought a house, yay!) and things have been hectic. The fourth of July also came and went with some fan fare.

The question becomes… how are the spikes doing?
Turns out, REALLY GOOD!

After starting the season in rocky fashion the Spikes currently top the standings 14-10. Only one win separates them from the two runner ups, the Black Bears and Scrappers, who currently run 13-11 and 13-12 respectively. The Trenton Thunder actually has 14 wins as well but is bogged down by its 13 losses.

The first half of the MLB draft league season ends this Saturday July 12th. The Spikes play all week this week at home, starting with a 3 game stint against the Frederick Keys (10-17) and then playing against the Williamsport Crosscutters (12-13) on Friday and Saturday.

After Saturday the league takes a slight turn. For the second half of the MLB Draft League season the players get changed out for new, paid players. The draft league says this second half is for professional players who have exhausted their amateur eligibility. This will be a longer half to the season with 46 games to be played.

We did actually go photograph two of the past games and simply didn’t get those photos out. I shot the 7/1/2025 game against the Scrappers and our Trenton correspondent Juliette Phillips shot the 7/5/2025 game against the Thunder in Trenton New Jersey. See the galleries down below!

We look forward to photographing the Spikes game tonight against the Keys. Stay tuned for more coverage of this State College team!
