STATE COLLEGE, PA. – The Spikes have won the first half of the MLB draft league season after a win against the Williamsport Crosscutters on Saturday, ending with a 17-12 record.
The Spikes got off to a rough start last week on Tuesday. They came into the week in an extremely tight race to win the first half of the season. However, after two losses at home to the Frederick Keys things did not look great. But, the Spikes came back strong and won 3 games in a row to take the win for the season.
If you’ve forgotten, the MLB draft league season is split into two halves. On the MLB draft league explainer page they state the following:
First Half (June 4-July 12, 2025): Amateur/Draft-eligible players from the Divisions I-III, NAIA, Junior College and High School (graduating seniors) levels. Thirty-four (34) games per team.
Second Half (July 16-Sept. 3, 2025): Professional players who have exhausted their amateur eligibility. Players receive housing, meal money, travel and weekly compensation. Forty-six (46) games per team.
So now after this win for the Spikes the team will be changing up a bit to incorporate new players who have exhausted their amateur eligibility.
We’re excited to see what the Spikes can do for this second half of the season.
The Spikes will be back at Medlar Field on Wednesday July 16th to go up against the West Virginia Black Bears at 6:35pm. We plan on being there to capture all the action and bring you a full gallery!
