KUTZTOWN, Pa. — Behind a stellar complete-game shutout from Bridget Bailey and a timely two-run homer by Jenna Lipowski, the Kutztown University Golden Bears defeated Lock Haven University 3-0 on Friday afternoon at North Campus Field. The victory improved Kutztown to 4-3 (3-2 PSAC East), while Lock Haven fell to 0-3 (0-3 PSAC East) in a game that lasted just 1 hour and 40 minutes under sunny skies.
Bailey’s Command Secures Win
Bridget Bailey (3-0) dominated in the circle, scattering three hits and striking out nine Lock Haven batters over seven innings. She worked efficiently, throwing 120 pitches and stranding three runners. Lock Haven’s Jada Schellhammer (0-1) pitched valiantly in defeat, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings but received no run support.

Kutztown broke the stalemate in the bottom of the third inning. Hannah Auvil sparked the rally with a double to left center, followed by Lipowski’s two-run blast down the left-field line, her first homer of the season. The Golden Bears added insurance in the fifth when Kate Ostaszewski singled, advanced on Auvil’s single, and scored on Alyssa Donato’s RBI single through the right side.
Lock Haven threatened in the sixth inning, loading the bases with singles from Delaney Good and Summer Peters. However, Bailey escaped unscathed by striking out Casey Carpenter and Syndey Arrigale, and catching Good in a rundown to end the threat.
